Expedite letters: We have found these are completely ineffective. If you have been referred to a hospital by the practice, you need to contact the hospital “patient advice and liaison service” (PALS), to see if they can bring your appointment forward. You can find the hospital PALS team online for example queens hospital burtons pals team can be contacted at: https://www.uhdb.nhs.uk/patient-advice-and-liaison-service-pals/
My hospital appointment is 12 months away, what can I do?
If you have contacted the hospital PALS service and your appointment is still too long in advance for you, you do have the option to seek help privately, although there will be cost involved in this. You can contact any of the local private hospitals and ask for an estimate of the cost to see someone privately. We are not able to recommend any one company but if you search online for local private healthcare providers you will find several options. If you need a private referral, please let reception know and we may be able to do this for you although there is a charge.
I wish to know my blood results or X-ray results.

Sedatives for scans or dental procedures: After careful consideration the practice has decided it is not appropriate to prescribe sedation for patients having scans or other investigative procedures and dental procedures. We have a duty of care to provide safe, consistent, and appropriate care for our patients. It is the responsibility of the hospital carrying out the imaging or procedure or dentist to prescribe medication if they deem necessary and they have the facilities to do this.
