Engagement starts on services formerly at the George Bryan Centre

On 12th February 2019, a fire destroyed the west wing of the George Bryan Centre. It provided an assessment, care and treatment service for working age adults who are in an acute state of mental illness and a mental health assessment service for people aged over 65.

Temporary arrangements have been in place since the fire and MPFT would like to design permanent solutions. An engagement exercise is underway for people living in Tamworth, Lichfield and Burton to discuss how best to create outstanding services.

Four engagement events have been organised for people living in Tamworth, Lichfield and Burton to discuss how best to create outstanding:

  • assessment, care and treatment service for working age adults who are in an acute state of mental illness
  • mental health assessment service for people aged over 65.

Anyone can attend the events, but we would particularly like to involve people who have used the George Bryan Centre and their family or carers. We would also like to hear from people who live in Burton, Lichfield and Tamworth who have experience of being admitted to St George’s Hospital, Stafford.

Weekend Pre-Bookable Appointments

From the 1st of September 2018, in addition to the Practice’s normal opening hours, you can also book an appointment to see a local clinician in the evenings between 6:30 to 8:00 pm, or on Saturday and Sunday at locations across Lichfield and Burntwood. GP Practices are working together to provide Extended Access appointments to our patients. This means that your appointment may be with a different GP or health professional  based in a different location or Practice than you are used to, and some of these appointments are telephone only.  These appointments are pre-bookable by contacting the surgery during our normal opening times. When you call, our receptionists will be able to help you to find a suitable appointment.

From time to time we may contact patients via an SMS text message, if you have previously agreed to us contacting you that way. Any text messages sent from us will be headed either 'GPSurgery' or '07903588846'. Please do not reply to these text messages unless specifically asked to as these numbers are not monitored.
